Keeping active at home

Keeping active at home

Physical activity is important to overall health including improving memory, sleep quality and heart health. One of the biggest benefits of physical activity is the positive effect it has on our mental health. When we take part in physical activity, the body releases endorphins which react with receptors in the brain to reduce our perception of pain. These endorphins also trigger positive feelings, lifting both your mood and your outlook on life. Physical activity also boosts our immune system, helping the body to fight viruses and illness.

During a period of self-isolation, many of us will be restricted by space, and not being able to go outside limits the physical activities possible but that does not mean that you cannot continue to stay active and healthy within the confines of your home. At Hallam Active, we pride ourselves in our ability to offer more than just sport, which is why we provide opportunities to not only develop healthy and active lifestyles, but also to promote your overall well-being and give you a sense of belonging within the Sheffield Hallam community. And so, in order to support you at home, we have compiled a list of tips, home workouts and activities to keep you active, healthy and happy.
